Story
Nikta Esfandani was a 14-year-old girl who was killed during the widespread protests in Iran in November 2019. She was reportedly shot in the head by security forces on November 16, 2019, near Satarkhan Street in Tehran.
Following her death, her family faced immense pressure from Iranian authorities. They were reportedly coerced to declare her death a suicide or to attribute it to other causes, such as a car accident or a heart attack, in exchange for receiving her body. However, her family bravely refused to comply with these demands, insisting that she was killed by state forces during the protests.
Nikta's death, alongside many other young victims, became a poignant symbol of the brutal crackdown by the Iranian government on its own citizens during the November 2019 protests, highlighting the severe human rights violations and the killing of minors.
