Story

Tania Abbasi, also known as Tania Abbas Oghli Fakhravar, was born on December 5, 2004 (15 Azar 1383). She was 21 years old, originally from Tehran, and resided in Mehrshahr, Karaj. She was an accounting student at Shahid Rajaee University of Karaj and a serious volleyball enthusiast who dreamed of participating in professional competitions.

Tania lost her father just one month after her birth, and from the age of four, she and her mother lived together. Her mother described her as a patient, kind, and responsible daughter.

On the night of January 8, 2026 (18 Dey 1404), Tania and her mother went to Haft Hoz in Tehran to participate in protests. When her mother suggested she stay home, Tania responded, "Is my blood redder than others'? Let's go and claim our rights. Tomorrow, in freedom, we can say we also had a share."

During their return home, Tania was shot directly in the back of the head with live ammunition by the criminal Islamic Republic regime's forces. Her hand was in her mother's hand at the time. Due to the intense security presence in the streets and hospitals, her mother faced immense difficulty in getting her to a hospital in time, encountering security forces multiple times. Although she was taken to Al-Ghadir and Shohada Tajrish hospitals, she was tragically denied admission, and it was too late by the time they reached Shohada Tajrish. Tania Abbasi died in her mother's arms, with her last words being, "Mom, I'm hungry... let's go eat dinner."

Her body was found three days later in the forensic medicine department. The family was initially told to pick her up the next day but was later instructed to go to Kahrizak. After three days of searching among hundreds of bodies, her family finally located her and laid her to rest. Her burial ceremony was held under severe pressure and threats, with no public ceremony allowed, and the family was constantly pressured to remain silent.

Tania's mother continues to mourn her loss and seeks justice, stating: "That night, I was right next to you, Mom, why didn't that bullet hit me... why didn't your pain hit my soul so I would die and not see you like this... why did you have to suffer when I was there... The only reason I am still here is to take revenge and destroy the perpetrators of this mass killing, from the one who gave the order to the one who targeted you.... I will not forgive anyone who normalizes this massacre and steps on your blood and the blood of all the loved ones who were killed. You are forever in my heart and soul."
