Story

Hossein Heidari was 26 years old when he was killed on December 11, 2019, during the nationwide protests in Iran. He was born on July 3, 1993, the son of Naser, and had one sister. He was single, a Qashqai Turk from the Darreh Shuri tribe, and resided in Shiraz.

With the sudden increase in gasoline prices in November 2019, nationwide protests erupted across Iran. Hossein, dissatisfied with the country's situation, joined his protesting compatriots in the streets to voice his grievances. On November 16, 2019, he was participating in a gathering in Valfajr Town, Shiraz, when suppressive forces brutally attacked the protesters. They targeted unarmed people with live ammunition. Suddenly, an IRGC sniper shot him, and he fell to the ground, severely wounded.

People rushed his half-alive body to the hospital. However, security forces at the hospital prevented his family from admitting him, so he was transferred home. For 25 days, he endured pain and suffering, but his condition worsened. Ultimately, in the early morning of Wednesday, December 11, 2019, Hossein Heidari passed away due to the severity of his injuries and related complications.

His lifeless body was laid to rest on Sunday, December 15, 2019, in Behesht Zahra, Qasr-e Qomsheh, Shiraz. The third and seventh-day ceremonies were held on the same day at Al-Mahdi Mosque in Qasr-e Qomsheh.

His mother wrote for him: "My dear Hossein... why did you leave your mother, father, and sister heartbroken? Mountains and plains weep for young Hossein. Your father says his wish was to see you in a groom's attire. Who would have thought that a grave and shroud would be your wedding dress... My dear Hossein, you served your fathers. Your mother, sister, and the entire tribe weep for you. My dear Hossein, if I knew who drowned you in your red blood, I would take such revenge that his mother's heart would burn... My dear Hossein, you served your mother..."

In his final message, Hossein urged: "Compatriot, I am one of the unknown killed. The criminal regime murdered me for peaceful protest. Do not let my unjustly shed blood be trampled. Fight for the better life you deserve; victory is near if you are united! On the day of the homeland's freedom, remember me, who rests innocently under tons of soil..."
