Mehdi Eskandarian, 44, was injured on January 9, 2026, and subsequently killed on January 12, 2026, in Karaj. He was a loving and heroic father who taught freedom to his 16-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter. Throughout his life, his heart beat for freedom, humanity, and his people. He deeply felt the pain of his compatriots and passionately longed to see the day of freedom in Iran. A fervent supporter of the Persepolis football team, he, like millions of Iranians, dreamed of a brighter future for his country.
During widespread protests where Iranians took to the streets en masse to demand an end to the Islamic Republic, Mehdi joined his fellow citizens to realize this dream. Government agents brutally attacked him, first striking him on the head with a baton and then shooting him, leading to his death three days later. Mehdi Eskandarian was among the many protestors killed by the regime's forces during these demonstrations. His memory and path remain etched in history and in the hearts of his people.
