Story

Sasan Azadvar, a 21-year-old Kyokushin karate champion, was arrested on January 3, 2026, in connection with the December 2025/January 2026 protests in Isfahan. He was accused of throwing stones, using a club to break the windows of a police minibus, attempting to procure petrol to set the vehicle on fire, and inciting others to join the protests.

The Revolutionary Court sentenced Sasan Azadvar to death on the charge of "moharebeh" (enmity against God). The court explicitly ruled that his actions constituted "effective cooperation with the enemy," carried out at "the official invitation of the Zionist regime and the US president." According to state reports, forced confessions were admitted as formal evidence to corroborate the state's charges, and no independent information regarding the circumstances of his case is available.

Sasan Azadvar's family was summoned for a final visit on April 28, 2026. He was subsequently killed by hanging on April 30, 2026, in Isfahan (Dastgerd) Central Prison. He was the tenth protester to be killed in relation to the December 2025/January 2026 protests.
