Story
Salehe Akbari, a 35-year-old nurse from Ardabil, was killed on January 8, 2026, during the Dey uprising. She and her husband, Ahmad Khodaei, were secretly helping wounded protesters, as the Islamic Republic was actively hunting the injured, even inside hospitals. According to Ahmad's account, regime forces raided their home and shot Salehe directly in the heart in front of him. The regime's brutality did not end with her death; they assaulted her body, sent photos of it to Ahmad, and used her corpse as a weapon to inflict psychological torture far beyond what prison had already done. Ahmad, who had suffered shattered ribs and a damaged kidney in detention, found these images unbearable and attempted to end his life, but survived. The community stands in solidarity with families seeking justice for those killed.
