1. Our Mission

The Yad Kon Registry is a digital memorial and public archive dedicated to preserving the names, faces, and stories of the victims of the Islamic Republic since the start of its reign in 1979.

We build the stories of the victims based on publicly available reports, creating a solemn, dignified, and respectful space to remember them. Our goal is not only to look beyond bare statistics and restore a personal, human record for each lost life, but also to provide this data in a structured, searchable, and referrable format. We don't only import and safekeep data. We make it accessible for everyone and available wherever it's needed.

Our website provides shareable, printable, and indexable profiles for each victim to ensure maximum reach. For researchers, developers, and advanced users, the data is also available through a public API.

2. Scope of the Memorial

Rather than focusing on a single protest or a specific historical event, the Yad Kon registry aims to documents all the atrocities that happened in Iran since 1979, from the mass executions of the 1980s, the chain murders, and the student protests of 1999, to the uprisings of 2009, 2017, 2019, the Woman-Life-Freedom movement of 2022, and the present day—any reported name is preserved here to ensure it is never erased from collective memory.

3. How We Gather and Verify Information

Information is compiled from human rights reports, social media, and other services similar to ours. We utilize artificial intelligence tools to extract structured fields (names, ages, locations, dates, and biography summaries) and pass them through human editorial verification for formatting and quality checks. Every single record you see on the website has been through at least one pair of human eyes. Keep in mind, however, that because of the nature of the situation in Iran, access to information is limited, and the accuracy of our data highly depends on the quality of the original sources and the best knowledge of our reviewers. We do our best to verify and cross-check information, but we cannot guarantee that every detail is correct.

All profiles represent reported public information, and each registry entry links directly back to its original sources to maintain transparency and provide references for researchers and the public.
