Bita Akbari, born in 2006, a 19-year-old young woman from Gaz Borkhar, Isfahan, was killed on January 9, 2026, during the protests. She had recently gotten engaged.
According to reports, she was killed by a direct shot from a live bullet. The severity of the injuries to her head was such that she was unrecognizable, and her mother identified her by the tattoo on her hand. Her burial was described as «very lonely» and saddened her city.
On February 26, 2026, the fortieth-day ceremony for Bita Akbari was held in Gaz Borkhar, Isfahan. A video from this ceremony, which reached Iran International, shows that people at this event chanted the slogan “We fight, we die, we take back Iran”.
