Elaheh Hashemipour Marbini was a 16-year-old high school student from Marbin village, a suburb of Ardakan in Isfahan province. Her father, Mohammad, was a government eulogist and a member of the Revolutionary Guard.
On November 16, 2019, the second day of nationwide protests against a sudden 300% increase in gasoline prices, Elaheh was returning from school when she encountered the demonstrations. She joined her compatriots to voice her protest alongside them. Security forces violently attacked the protesters, firing live ammunition at the defenseless people. Suddenly, one of them targeted Elaheh, shooting a bullet that pierced her chest. She fell to the ground, bleeding profusely, and died.
After her death, the mercenary agents took her body and refused to return it to her family for two days. They then pressured her family, stating that the body would only be released if the burial was conducted in silence. Elaheh's lifeless body was quietly laid to rest in her hometown amidst a heavy security presence, without the attendance of relatives or acquaintances.
The 40th-day commemoration ceremony was held on January 3, 2020, at the Marbinis' Hosseiniyeh. Due to his government affiliation, Elaheh's father remained silent about her death and did not publicize her name or the circumstances and location of her killing. However, some time later, a person from their village informed others about her killing by the regime.
