Arya Alidoust Gharibabadi, 23 years old, was killed on January 9, 2026 during the Lahijan protests. He died from a gunshot by paramilitary Basij members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Arya's mother, who had not seen him for seven years due to his emigration, had planned to meet him in Turkey in the coming months. Unfortunately, his death at the hands of the regime's repressive forces made this meeting impossible forever.
He was known for his great love for animals and his charitable activities, and spent his time caring for many stray cats and dogs in Lahijan.
