Arefeh Beigi, a 20-year-old from Zarrinshahr, Isfahan province, was killed on January 8, 2026, by security forces during protests. She had been actively participating in anti-regime protests since 2022, when she was just 16 years old. In one of her last posts, she wrote: “I feel strange, and I’m sure I did not feel this way in 2022[, during the Women, Life, Freedom movement].”
During the protests, she was first shot in the side. While still alive, she fell to the ground, and an officer then executed her with a direct shot to the head. This method of killing was described as an extrajudicial killing, a "finishing shot" to the dreams of a 20-year-old girl. Her father's name was Aminollah.
Her 40th-day memorial ceremony was held on February 22, 2026, in Golestan Zahra, Zarrinshahr, Isfahan. Attendees at her memorial chanted "Javidshah". It was mentioned that her favorite color was blue. Arefeh Beigi's name was also found on the Islamic Republic's government list of those killed. This video shows moments of her life.
