1. General Information & Scope
The YadKon VR application is an immersive 3D virtual reality experience developed by the YadKon (Remember) Registry. The application serves as an interactive memorial dedicated to documenting, preserving, and honoring the memory of victims of human rights violations in Iran.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy outlines how data is handled, processed, and protected when you download, install, or interact with YadKon VR on Meta Horizon / Meta Quest headsets.
2. Data Processing & Meta Horizon Sensors
A. Hand Tracking & Spatial Boundary Data (Local Processing)
Local On-Device Execution: YadKon VR utilizes Meta Horizon OS features including hand tracking, controller motion tracking, and physical room boundary mapping to enable natural interactions (such as touching memorial slabs or guiding luminous butterflies).
No External Transmission: All spatial sensors, camera feeds, raw point cloud data, and skeletal hand tracking data are processed strictly on your Meta Quest headset by Meta Horizon OS. YadKon VR does not record, capture, store, or transmit raw camera images, spatial room meshes, or biometrics to external servers.
B. Public Memorial API & Network Requests
Public Memorial Content: When you run YadKon VR, the application communicates with our public API endpoints (www.yadkon.com) to retrieve active victim profiles, biography text, memorial photographs, and active archway highlights.
Virtual Flowers & Anonymized Device Hash: When you place a virtual flower in a memorial area, a one-way SHA-256 cryptographic hash generated on your device, along with the flower's relative spatial coordinates (X, Y) and flower variant ID, is sent to our API. This hash is used exclusively to prevent duplicate placements and allow repositioning of your flower. Your device hash is stored solely for backend deduplication and is never publicly displayed, exposed, or returned in public API queries. No timestamps or personally identifiable information are recorded.
No User Account Requirement: The VR application does not require you to create a personal user account or log in with personal credentials to explore the VR environment.
Server Health Logs & Anti-Abuse: Technical requests to our servers include standard network metadata (such as temporary IP address and request timestamp). As outlined in our main web privacy policy, server logs are retained strictly for system diagnostic monitoring, rate-limiting, and security, and are automatically rotated and deleted.
3. Data Relating to the Deceased & Family Rights
Pursuant to Recital 27 of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), GDPR rules do not apply to personal data of deceased individuals. However, we respect post-mortem privacy and family dignity:
- Next-of-Kin Rights: Authorized family members and next-of-kin retain the right to request updates, corrections, or complete removal of profile records, photographs, or audio elements of their loved ones at any time.

4. Third-Party Services & Infrastructure
YadKon VR interacts with trusted data infrastructure providers strictly to deliver content securely:
- Meta Horizon Platform: App deployment and OS runtime services provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. Meta's handling of device data is governed by the Meta Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare (Content Delivery & API Security): API requests and static assets (images, audio clips) are delivered via Cloudflare edge infrastructure to ensure high availability and DDoS protection.
- Bunny.net: Audio and video streaming media assets are delivered via Bunny.net as a data processor.
5. Third-Party Data Sharing & Advertising
- No Data Sales: We do not sell, rent, lease, or commercially exploit any user data.
- No In-App Advertising or Tracking: YadKon VR contains no third-party advertisements, commercial marketing SDKs, cross-app tracking, or behavioral profiling tools.
6. Children's Privacy
YadKon VR complies with Meta Horizon age eligibility requirements. The application is intended for users who meet the minimum age criteria established by Meta for Meta Quest device usage (ages 16+/18+ depending on regional Meta account settings). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Data Retention & Deletion Requests
Because YadKon VR does not maintain individual user accounts or personal profiles for VR viewers, we do not store personal profiles of app users on our servers.
